Chubba Bubba Mondays: Fear

Since completing my 28 Day Reboot, I'm down 8.2 bricks of restaurant butter (or marge).  My body is working better, and today I'm wearing a new bra - with no back fat.

But wait, that's not even the best part.

For the last week I've been watching BBC's Supersized vs. Superskinny, along with Britain's Secret Eaters.  I can't recall for sure which show it was, but a girl came on and she talked about being afraid to eat her food and not have any left.

That was me.  For years.  See those pistachios?  Was once the case where I would agonize over spending money on them.  And if I did spend the money on these unsalted, non-oiled down treats, I would then be afraid to eat them.

I'd nibble a few here and there but to bring them to work for a snack, no way.  Too expensive and stressful.

This is where I was in my relationship with money and food.  But I'm most happy to report that I can now eat a serving of unsalted non-oiled down pistachios, without fear.

It's a huge relief and big step in moving forward.  In fact, my last two days at work, I ate and drank what I needed.  Though the first time I started to snack on those pistachios, I had to tell myself, "I will not be afraid to eat this food."

And now, I'm metabolizing machine.   In, out, thank you very much, have a nice day.  It's feels damn good.

So ... how'd you do this week? Realize anything new about yourself? Overcome a fear?  Get your knockers in a new bra?

Please do tell.

I'm not afraid of you.

  1. Congratulations on the breakthrough! That's awesome.
I'd have no problem inhaling a whole bag of pistachios though. That's why I try not to buy them.

    1. They are so nummy. And loaded with goodness, to boot. Not to shabby.

  2. Good for you on such amazing accomplishments. If I could stop buying and eating chocolate maybe my back fat would disappear.

    1. Hahaha, but I don't believe you have back fat. But thanks for the laugh.

  3. I do adore pistachios, but never eat them since they're extremely expensive here, just like most other nuts :(

    1. Do you get better deals during the fall? Or holiday time? Or stores offer many good deals then. But yes, overall, so costly. Shame, of it really.

    2. nope, those things are always expensive as hell. A kilo of pistachios would probably cost around 30 dollars here :( and hazelnuts, almonds up to 20-25 dollars a kilo.

    3. For the ones in that picture, a little over a kilo is 20 smackers.

  4. Wow, you're doing good!! Went down a pound from last week, so still have three to lose from that week in GA. But I'm still exercising, so at least I'm getting stronger (right???).

A long time ago when I joined Weight Watchers, I was afraid to eat. Afraid I'd show up to the meeting and would have gained instead of lost. I hated that feeling. Now it is what it is. At least pistachios are not a threat. Can't stand nuts. Peanuts are different, though (they are a legume--see I know my stuff). Gotta keep them out of the house.

Here's to another good week (because losing a pound IS a good week!).

    1. That's four sticks of US household butter, you lost. That IS a damn good week.

Much fun on your new bikes.

Thanks for sharing your story about Weight Watchers. I like reading what you guys have to say here. Very cool.

  6. Awesome! I'm down too this week, though it's more about just getting back to my regular workout schedule and diet after the oral surgery disruption.

    1. Woohoo, Chris. How long did recovery take for your oral surgery? Hope you are healed up by now and eating nummy things.

  7. I love pistachios! I'm working on drinking more water. I'm one of those strange people who doesn't like water and doesn't get thirsty, which means my body is probably always dehydrated and that isn't good. So. I'm trying to drink more. I'm up to almost 30oz a day.

  8. That is a huge step forward. Remember, we don't take anything with us once we're gone, so finish off whatever you have to while you can :)

  9. Nuts are such a wonderful treat! I am trying to eat more...but not too many.

  10. I made an awesome granola this weekend- walnuts, pecans, sliced almonds, cranberries. But the challenge is to eat one serving a day. A quarter cup of granola isn't much. Not when it's toasty & yummy. MyFitnessPal helps me a lot in that regard. Do you keep a food log?

    1. Go you for making such a fun treat. I just cooked a nummy lunch with Farmer's Market green pepper, onions and organic garlic and basil. So killer good. Then a bit of unsalted cashews to top, as I've never liked the salted ones. Icky.

    1. It's a lot of butter, indeed. When this journey is complete, I'm bringing my camera into work to shoot what it would look like on my prep table.

    1. I'll agree in part, as I can't stand the salted crappy oiled ones. Or the red ones. Icky.

  13. Hey! I put my Girls in a new holder as well and they are loving it! I'm up a pound this week. I blame it on the fair and that damn funnel cake I just had to eat. And the pulled pork sandwich. And the ice cream cone. The good news is, it's only a pound...and I won't be going back to the fair again til next year, so back on track I go!

    1. Only one brick than, you'll get that off in no time. Thanks for joining the weekly game. Hope the fair food was tasty.

    1. Sadly, there are more coupons for processed crap than whole foods. Thanks.

  15. Woot woot!! You're doing so well and it's great to know you feel better as well as look better.

You're right about the coupons. There aren't many for healthy food. It's mostly processed crap.

I grow what I can, but I can't grow things like peaches, pears, and melons-some of my favourites.

    1. Yeah, the breakthrough on not being afraid to eat certain foods is WAY more than I hoped for and far better than losing bricks.

I try to use overages and sales with store coupons for produce, that's what I did before, but now that I'm juicing, I burn through way more produce.

I use to have peach trees in my yard before I move here. Was wonderful. Glad you have a garden, it sure helps.

  16. I love that you are a metabolizing machine! I've only been increasing my activity over the last few days and I think my body is really happy about it! I have a lot of energy (so much it took me forever to fall asleep last night). Feeling good - and the weather here this week is perfect so it is making everything even better.

Congrats on being down over 8 bricks of butter and having a new bra. Good going! :)

    1. Wonderful news about your increased activity. I have not been strong enough to go for a proper walk yet, but I can do strolls about the markets and stuff like that.

Glad you have perfect weather for your exercise. That's the best.

    1. I never liked the red ones, as they were so messy and died my fingers.

Juice any fun new combos, lately?

    2. Yes, Metabolism Booster, is spose to be good for cellulite ...

1 apple (skin on ) or a ripe pear
1 grapefruit peel thinly, leaving plenty of pith
      6 mint leaves
      2 sticks celery

a dash of cinnamon to serve.

    3. That drink sounds refreshing. Love mint and grapefruit, but never had them together yet. Thanks for the idea.

I'm currently grooving on organic carrots, grapes and raw ginger. It's such an energy zinger with no crashing.

  18. You know, I've never had much of a fondness for just eating nut sort of products... not sure why.

  19. I LOVE the natural (non red) pistachios! But I don't keep them in the house because my daughter is allergic.

PS. I want to lose 7 more pounds!
